Why this olive oil is special

Ex Terra Organic is the organic interpretation of the Sabino Leone style: fresh, refined and unmistakably Italian, yet never excessively powerful. The blend is made from traditional olive varieties from Puglia, including Peranzana, Coratina and Leccino. Each variety makes its own contribution: Peranzana brings elegance, Coratina structure and freshness, and Leccino softness and balance.

The result is an Extra Virgin olive oil with exceptional versatility. In our Olive Oil Guide, Ex Terra scores 7 for fruitiness, 5 for both bitterness and pepperiness, and 8 for complexity. It therefore has plenty of character while remaining approachable enough for everyday use. The combination of green almond, herbs and a refined bitter note makes it a particularly attractive organic all-rounder.

Ex Terra is produced by the Sabino Leone family in Canosa di Puglia. Its name literally means “from the earth” and refers to both organic cultivation and the family estate’s close connection with its land. The olives are carefully harvested and processed within a short time in Sabino Leone’s modern mill. This helps preserve the fresh green aromas and the individual character of the different olive varieties.

It is not only the Sabino Leone estate that belongs among the international elite. Ex Terra Organic itself has also received important awards. In 2017, the oil was named Best Oil by the renowned German gourmet magazine Der Feinschmecker.

That same year Ex Terra also received a Gold Medal at BIOL, the international competition dedicated specifically to organic olive oils. A strong confirmation that this approachable organic blend is not only versatile, but also capable of impressing at competition level.
