A vibrant organic Extra Virgin olive oil from Sicily with pronounced green aromas. Tomato leaf, green banana, green almond and celery are complemented by green pepper and a distinctive balsamic note of mint. Elegantly bitter, clearly peppery and fresh through a long finish.
Verde: the green side of Sicily
The name Verde – Italian for green – fits this organic Extra Virgin olive oil by Miceli & Sensat perfectly. Not only because the olives are harvested early, but especially because of the pronounced green character that is immediately recognisable in both aroma and flavour.
Verde is made as a Sicilian blend of Cerasuola and Picual. The combination gives the oil both aromatic freshness and enough bitterness and pepperiness to remain clearly present at the table.
Miceli & Sensat works with olives from its own family groves in Sicily. The olives are hand-harvested early in the season and processed in the estate's own mill within just a few hours.
That short period between tree and mill is particularly important for an oil such as Verde. Its fresh vegetal aromas need to be preserved as cleanly as possible. The result is an Extra Virgin olive oil that tastes modern and precise while retaining a distinctly Sicilian identity.
The nose reveals tomato leaf, green banana, green almond and celery. These are followed by green pepper and a distinctive balsamic note reminiscent of fresh mint.
On the palate, Verde becomes slightly more powerful. The bitterness recalls chicory and green almond, while rocket and green pepper return in its pepperiness. Despite this intensity, the oil remains elegant and pleasantly persistent.
The producer states a polyphenol content of at least 500 mg/kg for Verde. This fits both its early harvest and its characteristic bitterness and pepperiness.
In our Olive Oil Guide, Verde scores 8 for fruitiness, 5 for bitterness, 6 for pepperiness and 8 for complexity. It is therefore clearly more vibrant than a mild everyday olive oil, without becoming extremely powerful.
Verde is particularly good with salads, vegetable soups, roasted vegetables, potatoes, white meat and grilled fish. It also brings an immediate fresh green lift to pasta, bruschetta, burrata or simply fresh bread.
And for anyone who enjoys experimenting, Miceli & Sensat itself offers a surprising suggestion: try Verde over chocolate ice cream. The combination of sweet, bitter and peppery flavours can work remarkably well.
Verde has been one of Miceli & Sensat's most awarded oils for several years. In 2026 it received, among others, Gold at Olive Japan, Best Cerasuola at EVOOLEUM and Gold at JOOP.
Italian guide Gambero Rosso also awarded Verde its highest distinction, Tre Foglie, in 2026. A strong confirmation for an oil distinguished above all by freshness, green aromatics and balance.
Verde is organically produced and carries the protected geographical indication I.G.P. Sicilia. This means that not only the quality of the oil matters, but also its connection to its place of origin. Fresh, vegetal, vibrant and unmistakably Mediterranean.
