Franci Toscano IGP opens fresh and fruity, with herbaceous and vegetal notes of artichoke, cut grass and tomato, complemented by a softer impression of ripe fruit. The oil begins almost gently sweet on the palate before pleasant bitterness and pepperiness gradually emerge.
That balance makes it exceptionally versatile. Delicious with soups, vegetables, pulses, bruschetta, salads and pasta, yet robust enough for meat and refined enough for milder fish.
The olives for Franci Toscano IGP come mainly from the hills of the Val d'Orcia and Tuscan Maremma. This is southern Tuscany: rolling landscapes, old olive groves and a climate in which warm days alternate with cooler conditions throughout the season.
The designation Toscano IGP matters. It is a protected geographical indication linking the origin of the olives and production to Tuscany under defined conditions.
Discover Italian olive oil →After harvest, the olives are mechanically processed in a modern continuous system. The oil is then filtered, helping remove small quantities of moisture and solids that could affect long-term stability.
At Franci, technology is not about extracting as much oil as possible from the fruit, but about control. Temperature, time, oxygen and fruit condition ultimately determine how much of the original aroma is retained.

Franci Toscano IGP has been selected and awarded several times over the years in Italian and international DOP/IGP competitions. Among its distinctions is a Sol di Bronzo in the DOP/IGP category at Sol d'Oro Northern Hemisphere 2023.
That fits Franci's philosophy: even an oil designed for broad everyday use must meet a high quality standard. Awards naturally always relate to a specific harvest and judging.
Villa Magra and Villa Magra Grand Cru are more expressive selections where power, complexity and the Frantoio cultivar take a much more prominent role.
Toscano IGP is broader in use and more approachable. That does not make it less serious; it is simply a different style. Tasted side by side, these oils show beautifully what a top mill can achieve with different cultivars and selections.
