An organic AOP extra virgin olive oil from Provence, produced at Château Margüi – part of George Lucas’ Skywalker Estate. Smooth, fruity and complex. A galaxy far, far away? Not quite. Just southern France.
Luke, I am your olive oil
Château Margüi may sound like the sort of place where Obi-Wan would retire to grow lavender, but it is in fact a historic Provençal estate. Since 2017 it has been part of George Lucas’ Skywalker Vineyards collection.
And yes, the Star Wars connection is real. No marketing trick from us. No Jedi mind trick. George Lucas genuinely owns the estate through his Skywalker ventures.
Make olive oil, he wanted. Good taste, he had.
The amusing story naturally gets attention, but the olive oil itself is serious. Château Margüi produces an organic extra virgin olive oil with AOP Huile d’Olive de Provence status. The olives come from the Provençal estate itself, are harvested by hand and cold extracted.
Fame leads to attention. Attention leads to tasting. Tasting leads to… probably another bottle.
The oil has an amber-green colour with golden reflections. Floral and aromatic notes appear on the nose, while the palate reveals delicate flavours of nuts and fresh almond.
Bitterness and pepperiness remain friendly. No lightsaber duel in your throat, then, but enough character to make its quality as extra virgin olive oil very clear.
Gentle the path is. Fruity the Force is. Pleased you will be.
Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Fortunately, this Margüi leads mainly to almond, flowers and gentle Provençal fruitiness.
For anyone normally wary of powerful, bitter or very peppery olive oils, this is a much friendlier route to the light side.
A whole Rebel Alliance of olive varieties
The oil is made from traditional Provençal olive varieties including Picholine, Aglandau, Cayon, Cayet, Bouteillan and Grossane.
Together they do not create a Death Star, but an elegant blend in which smoothness, aroma and complexity come together beautifully. United the olives are. Stronger the blend becomes.
We found the story behind Château Margüi so unusual that we devoted a complete article to it in our Olijfolie Academie.
There you can read how George Lucas came to Domaine Margüi, why Hollywood is actually only half the story, and what makes this olive oil interesting in its own right: organic farming, AOP Provence, local olive varieties, hand harvesting and genuine Provençal terroir.
Much to learn, you still have.

This Margüi pairs beautifully with salads, roasted vegetables, fish, meat and fresh bread.
Its relatively gentle character also makes it an easy olive oil to keep on the table. No complicated pairing rules. No Jedi Council required for permission.
Pour. Taste. Enjoy. Do or do not. There is no try.
An organic AOP olive oil from Provence is already special. An organic AOP olive oil from the estate of the creator of Star Wars? That certainly makes for an easier story around the dinner table.
Saying “I am your father” while unwrapping it is optional. Dramatic breathing too.
