Three masterpieces, three completely different personalities

A ranking is interesting, but this Top 3 becomes truly fascinating when the three oils are considered side by side. Number 1 comes from Puglia and is made from expressive Coratina. Number 2 comes from Sicily, yet surprisingly is made from the originally Spanish Picual. Number 3 is also a Picual, this time from its classic home in Andalusia.

For the 2025/2026 harvest, Don Gioacchino officially ranks number 1 in the overall World’s Best Olive Oils ranking. With 465 points, the oil finished clearly ahead of the rest of the podium. An impressive achievement by Sabino Leone and a beautiful example of just how powerful and complex Coratina can be.

Único may be the most surprising oil on this podium. A 100% organic Picual, but not from Andalusia. Miceli & Sensat grows this Spanish olive on Sicilian soil, giving it a completely individual expression.

The result is intensely green and richly nuanced, with aromas of tomato, tomato leaf, grass, green almond, artichoke and Mediterranean herbs. Powerful, yet remarkably refined and harmonious.

Oro Bailén brings Picual back to its classic home: Jaén in Andalusia. Here it becomes a distinctly green-fruity olive oil with aromas of fresh grass, tomato leaf, green tomato, almond and green herbs.

The oil combines abundant fruitiness with clear bitterness and lively pepperiness. Exactly the character for which high-quality early-harvest Picual is so highly regarded.

Oro Bailén Picual achieved third place in the overall World’s Best Olive Oils ranking 2025/2026 with 290 points. Once again confirming Oro Bailén’s established position among the major international names.
