A pourer is only useful if it actually fits the bottle properly. This version is suitable for bottles with an internal neck diameter between 17.5 and 21.5 mm.
If in doubt, measure the bottle opening first. That avoids ordering a pourer that sits too loosely or simply does not fit into the neck.
Measure the inside of the bottle neck where the polycork section of the pourer is inserted.
Many simple pourers simply remain open after use. That is not ideal for olive oil. With the supplied cap, you can close the pouring spout again after use.
This allows the bottle to be sealed airtight with the pourer still in place. You therefore do not have to pull the entire pourer out of the bottle every time you want to store the oil properly sealed.
Olive oil does not benefit from prolonged contact with oxygen. That is why we do not consider a closing cap an unnecessary detail, but a genuinely practical feature.
While cooking, you want to be able to pour quickly. Afterwards, you simply want to close the oil properly again. This pourer lets you do both.
Beside the pouring spout is a small air tube. While the oil flows out of the bottle, air can enter the bottle again through this tube.
This prevents the bottle from constantly gulping for air and creates a much smoother stream. The pourer also has a relatively fast flow rate, which is useful when you work a little more generously with olive oil while cooking.
The shape of the spout is designed for controlled and virtually drip-free pouring. That keeps the bottle cleaner, prevents oily hands and ultimately means less olive oil on the worktop.
This pourer is particularly useful if you use the same bottle of olive oil every day. For example beside the cooker, when finishing dishes or directly at the table.
No Alessi and certainly not a design object that starts a conversation over dinner. But for everyday use, this pourer has two qualities that matter much more: it fits a wide range of bottle necks and can be sealed airtight again after use. Sometimes practical simply wins.
